"Reverie is the Moonlight of thought"- Jules Renard

Through my paintings, I like to play with the lacquer and eggshells details to express the differents phases of the lunar cycle.

I like to work with  the differentes shades of lacquer that I created by mixing my colors of pigments and as the overlays of the lacquers, accentuating the effects of transparencies and lights. 

The eggshells then come to accentuate a phase of the moon.

I made my black backgrounds with white acrylic paint mixed with Chinese ink. I get a mat background that bring out the satin finish and smooth touch of the lacquer.

The whole revitalizing the luminescence of the moon.

FRAGMENT#

Fragment is part of a whole.

Fascinated by maps and especially the different ways to read them depending on the graphic language used, it was evident to me, since I live in Beijing, to talk about China.

To conceive a lecture of this country, eggshell was for me the perfect material in order to work on details and accuracy and therefore accentuate the point of view that I want to share.

Eggshell is also one of the decorative elements commonly used with Chinese lacquer since 3 000 years ; I like the idea of maintaining this craft heritage.

The various colors of eggs we can find in Chinese markets give me even more possibilities of visual expression.

Chinese territory then becomes a patchwork of eggshells; a precise fragmentation of the compact density of Chinese population.
